New Cityscapes Going Up at Yaletown Gallery

Vancouver: Perspectives in Paint

WHAT: An art opening featuring 20 artists including Kate MacDonald
WHERE: Yaletown Gallery
WHEN: Opening Reception: Thur, April 3 at 7 pm
(Show runs April 3 – April 15)

My friend Ron Coldham wrote this press release ahead of another show of mine and I like pulling it out every now and again - he's got a way with words doesn't he?

"The skyline changes in this city every 2.7 days. It’s a documented fact. Condos go up. Landmarks come down. There are more cranes than seagulls on the waterfront.

Let’s preserve what we have before our cityscape is void of any personality. And how you ask? By fighting city hall? Taking it to the streets? Greasing the wheels?

Fuck that. We know by now that none of that works. The only way to preserve the character of our eclectic cityscape is through the art of conservationists like artist Kate MacDonald. Check out her artwork and transport yourself back in time – at least 2.7 days in time – to an era when your skyline looked a little more, you know, like your skyline.

Let’s talk about it more at the opening."

I'll be hitting Rodney's Oyster Bar on Mainland apres-opening if anyone wants to join me for kumimotos and beer! (I heart those little kumis....) Can't make the show? You can always view new work on my website!
